Dr. Shaheen was born in a Tanoli tribe “Suleyman Khel” in Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan and belongs to a Tarbela dam Affectee family migrated from Dera village. He got his primary education from FG School Peshawar and Govt High School Sector 2 Khalabat Township Haripur. After completing his intermediate from Telecom Boys College Haripur, he completed his graduation and Masters from University of Peshawar, Pakistan. From his childhood, he was very much oriented towards religious and literary works of renowned scholars, poets and authors. He considers Quran as umm ul kutub (Mother of all the books) and umm ul uloom (Mother of all the available knowledge) and believes that an individual cannot even start the journey of knowledge without first getting familiar with the word of God. He started understanding the great book at the age of 13.

He was having a natural orientation towards urdu poetry and urdu/english article writing from his very childhood. Because of diversity in interests, he has published only one urdu poetry book titled “Meri Zindagi Ka Maqsad”.

Dr Shaheen claims to be the inventor of a new domain in Computer Science titled “Wisdom mining” (A patent filed in Pakistan Patent Office) on which he recently has supervised one of his PhD student who completed her research in the said domain. His current research interests include wisdom mining, big data/ data mining, remote sensing, artificial intelligence, industrial problem solving and operations research. Dr. Shaheen has a broader experience of research and development in various domains of computer science. He also have served in multiple industrial settings across the country. He published number of research papers in journals and conferences of international repute (Listed in publications section). He has also been serving in board of reviewers of different international research journals and conferences. He is a senior member of IEEE, professional member of ACM and member of SEI, WCE National Academy of science and Informing Science Institute

Dr. Shaheen has currently been serving as Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, Foundation University Islamabad. He also served as Director General of Directorate of Energy Information & Futuristic at National Energy Efficiency & Conservation Authority of Pakistan, as Dean, Head of Department at Foundation University Pakistan, GIS Manager at SNGPL and Associate Professor at FAST National University Pakistan.
